Hamish Brown

Hamish Brown has sung with York Opera for several years now in roles such as following Tamino (The Magic Flute), Fairfax (The Yeomen of the Guard), Raleigh (Merrie England), Richard Dauntless (Ruddigore) and the Defendant (Trial by Jury). He is from Glasgow and studied maths at Edinburgh University and opera at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Hamish has sung with many companies in his time including Grange Park, Pimlico, New Cambridge and British Youth Operas, the London Opera Players, Bristol and Bath Operas and several G & S Companies. His major roles include Albert (Albert Herring), Quint (The Turn of the Screw), MacHeath (The Beggar's Opera), Alfredo (La Traviata), the title part in Handel's Samson, Gerald (Lakmé), Jenik (The Bartered Bride), Piquillo (La Péricole), Frederic (The Pirates of Penzance), Marco (The Gondoliers) and Basilio/Curzio (The Marriage of Figaro). Hamish lives in Langtoft in the Wolds with his girlfriend Claire and dog Joe. He is head of mathematics at Scarborough College.
